| The mission of the Coalition is to identify and bring together resources in the community to define, create, promote and sustain activities, programs and environments that support lifelong healthy behaviors among residents 50 years and older. We will inspire a comprehensive approach to aging that encourages a physically active, healthy lifestyle through environmental, policy, social and behavioral channels. |

Coalition Purpose
1. Educate the greater
community about the benefits of healthy lifestyles
and physical activity, and advocate for the need
for health and physical activity by all older
adults;
2. Encourage more aggressive action, facilitate collaboration, and enhance development of additional ideas between and among older adults, community health professionals, exercise professionals, health associations and agencies, planners, health care providers, employers, community centers, exercise facilities, senior living facilities, transportation experts, community planners, educational settings and other diverse groups and organizations and areas of professional expertise; 3. Develop strategies that take into account the comprehensive health issues, medical systems and reimbursement, marketing, environmental issues, education, and research that are involved in helping older Americans become healthier and more physically active; 4. Educate and inform older adults with information and expertise regarding the importance of healthy lifestyles and physical activity for enhancing health and quality of life, and provide health and physical activity programs for the able-bodied older adult to the frail elderly in order to enhance the quality of life for all persons age 50 and over; 5. Encourage the participation of older adult organizations and services in coalition planning and programming; 6. Emphasize/provide evaluation in all implementation steps and programs. |
